OMS Foundation Update

New Anesthesia and Patient Safety Study Announced: In response to challenges that have been raised about the safety of the OMS specialty’s anesthesia team model, the OMS Foundation has committed to facilitate a new study of past and prospective data related to anesthesia and patient safety. AAOMS and the Foundation have each committed $75,000 to launch the study. Practicing OMSs are also encouraged to help support the OMS anesthesia team model by contributing their data via OMSQOR and DAIRS, AAOMS’s proprietary data registries.

More than $80,000 raised at Annual Meeting: Energized by gift-match challenges from AAOMS and the James and Carmen Hupp Foundation, Annual Meeting attendees helped to raise more than $55,000 for the Foundation’s Annual Fund and nearly $25,000 for its Global Initiative for Volunteerism and Education (GIVE) in September.  In addition, Treloar & Heisel has partnered with the OMS Foundation and United Life to offer a new whole-life insurance program for donors exploring planned giving options. The program offers qualified applicants a streamlined application process with no medical exam required, and a fast-track to membership in the Foundation’s exclusive R.V. Walker Society.
